387. First Unique Character in a String
Given a string, find the first non-repeating character in it and return it's index. If it doesn't exist, return -1.
Examples:
s = "leetcode"
return 0.
s = "loveleetcode",
return 2.
Note: You may assume the string contain only lowercase letters.
// Two Pass Method
int firstUniqChar(string s) { // time: O(n); space: O(1)
vector<int> record(26, 0);
for (char ch : s) ++record[ch - 'a'];
for (int i = 0; i < s.length(); ++i) {
if (record[s[i] - 'a'] == 1) return i;
}
return -1;
}
